Third String QB for Texas A&M Football Scores Quickly

Texas A&M football fans… the kid may have something.

After the worst possible start for the Aggies—giving up a kickoff return touchdown on the first play of the game—things seemed to be going south quickly for Texas A&M football. Right out of the gate, though, the eyebrows of Aggie fans everywhere began to raise as Jaylen Henderson took his first snaps. His decisions were quick. His passes were crisp. His foot speed was elite. He did don’t look like a third stringer taking his first snaps of the year in a conference game.

He not only made some great plays in the ground game, he started off hot in the passing game as well. He found Noah Thomas several times for some chunk yardage—and boy, did his passes have some spin on them. It only took about four or five plays for the Aggies to get inside the red zone. A penalty briefly moved them back, but as you can see below, it didn’t matter.

Are we… having fun? Are we having fun on offense here? This is such an unfamiliar feeling!

I think we may have picked up as many chunk plays on that drive as we did all game against Ole Miss. Don’t get me wrong, we moved it efficiently in that one, but we had next to no explosive plays. That is an element sorely missing from this offense sans Weigman (or maybe just with Johnson, if things continue this way!). Here’s hoping that young Mr. Henderson can keep up this for the remainder of the game, and we see quite a few more big plays—preferably, leading to scores!
