Defense for Texas A&M Football Creates a Huge Score
TEXAS A&M FOOTBALL FANS, WE ARE HAVING FUN!
Early in the second half against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Aggie defense was facing a favorable situation. After two plays for no gain by State, the Bulldogs lined up for a third and ten. Shortly after the fact, though, a false start moved them further back, putting them in third and fifteen. The defense for Texas A&M football was licking their chops at this point, as they had been somewhat quiet on the sack front thus far in the night. A perfect blitz call by DJ Durkin had Jared Kerr come screaming in unblocked on Mississippi State quarterback Mike Wright’s blind side, and he delivered a massive hit that sent the ball spiraling in the air. Here’s what happened next.

Shemar Stewart has been quietly so solid on this Aggie defensive line this year. He hasn’t run up a huge total as far as tackles, tackles for loss, or sacks when compared to a guy like Edgerrin Cooper, for example, but he has been a presence out there for anyone who’s been paying attention. This play was well-deserved and earned by Shemar; it couldn’t have happened for a better guy.
This is one dominant performance by the Aggies in all phases. They’ve been surprisingly so explosive on the offensive side behind the play of third-stringer Jaylen Henderson, and have created now three turnovers on the defensive side, thanks in no small part to the constant pressure whenever State drops back to pass. Let’s keep the pedal to the metal and finish this one strong.
