Gauging Recruit Reactions to Change in Leadership for Texas A&M Football

One of the biggest questions on everyone’s mind even before this news broke for Texas A&M football was whether it would lead to a tidal wave of decommitments in the ranks of the current Aggie class. This wasn’t an unreasonable question, as several of the current commits’ status could best be described as “wavering,” given how the season was unfolding. Thus far, there have been no recruits reneging on their pledges at the current moment. That said, media have been reaching out to the class to see where they currently stand. I’m collecting the responses that have been given thus far here in this article.

Debron Gatling Remains Firm with Texas A&M Football

This is a sentiment you’d expect. Doesn’t seem like there’s anything here with Debron that’s worthy of immediate worry, though it does underscore the need for a certain amount of continuity on the staff.

Cam Coleman Still Committed to Texas A&M Football, But Staying Open

This is one player, given his stature (literally and as regards his recruiting ranking), that you’d be most worried about. It’s good news that he’s still an Aggie commit—he has strong ties to the area still, so this makes sense—but the recruitment being open thing has seemed to be the status quo for the past few weeks with him anyway, as he’s visited Colorado and Florida State.

Hornsby In Wait-and-See Mode with Texas A&M Football

Another Aggie WR commit in Jaylan Hornsby here. He seems regretful that he won’t be able to play for Jimbo, but as he says here, he’s reserving judgment until the replacement is announced. That’s probably wise, and I would hope everyone in the class does the same.

QB Commit Maddox Taking Visits

One of the two quarterback pledges in the class for the Aggies, Anthony Maddox has been having a stellar season this fall. He has been very locked in for most of the year, but visited LSU yesterday. This is another one to keep an eye on, in my opinion.

Jernigan Wavering in Texas A&M Football Commitment

Tristan Jernigan is one of the most underrated players in this class. Despite his lower rating by the services, this one is an Alabama-A&M battle and has been for a while. When such highly-regarded programs are seeking a prospect’s signature this fervently, you can tell they hold a high opinion of him. Alabama has been putting on the pressure lately, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Tide redouble their efforts here.

Dominick McKinley Locked In with Texas A&M Football

One of the top pledges in the class, Dominick McKinley tweeted out a strong statement that he intends to stick with his commitment. McKinley isn’t the most vocal guy and doesn’t do a lot of media, but hopefully the rest of the class can rally around the sentiment of this talented leader.

Ashton Funk Remains Solid to Texas A&M Football

This is what you love to see. Funk has been a solid commit ever since he first announced for the Aggies, and it doesn’t look like that’s about to change. Excited to get this talented young man on campus.
