Six Players Likely to Move On from Texas A&M Football
I want to say up front that this won’t be a big article speculating on who from that legendary 2022 recruiting class may transfer away from Texas A&M football. I’m not about that kind of conjecture on here, and it doesn’t do anyone any good. That said, there are some players in here that are likely to transfer, but I’m basing that on more than simply “hey, this guy will probably leave because the coach is leaving!” You’re going to have that kind of turnover, for sure. But projections of that kind are far more specious than I’m comfortable with at this point. If solid information starts emerging about one particular player or another, then you can trust that I will have it up on the site as soon as possible.
At the moment, however, there is nothing but “vibes” from social media postings to go on with regard to that class. I trust Elijah Robinson to keep this group together and engaged down the stretch and through the bowl game. I think the players will rally around and play hard for him—he is an eminently popular guy around the program. It was the right move to name him interim HC.
That said, this is a list of guys with one year or more of eligibility that I find likely to either declare for the draft or make their way to the portal. I’m roughly ordering this from least to most impact on the team going forward. As I said, I’m going to base this on more than just vibes surrounding one guy or another—for example, there’s no Evan Stewart on this list. There’s never been much indication that he in particular has any interest in transferring other than that 1) he’s a clear target for opposing coaches due to his skill level and 2) opposing fans keep saying that he’ll transfer based on their own evaluation of whether or not he is being used well in the offense. Neither of those are really much to go on, and so I’m not including him in these projections. With all that said, however, who is likely to depart from this roster? Let’s take a look.
