3 Notes One Week into Texas A&M Football’s HC Search
Takeaways after a week of Texas A&M football searching for a new head man
It seems like much more than just one week ago that Texas A&M football parted ways with Jimbo Fisher. So much has happened in that time—names have emerged and faded, coaches have denied interest with various degrees of conviction, and most of all, speculation has run rampant. Fans have set their hearts on a certain coach only to have it revealed that he wasn’t ever really a candidate; other fans have already come to a morose conclusion that the one name they don’t want it to be is surely who it will end up being. In short, there have been a lot of emotions so far!
With signing day drawing nearer and nearer, as well as the portal opening officially on December 4, many Aggie fans are anxious to get this hire made. Having that head man in place at Texas A&M football would help a lot not only in drawing in top talent in the portal, but also retaining current members of the roster and finishing out the 2024 recruiting class. Those high school seniors are doubtless watching closely what will be happening down in College Station, and while you may not need a splash hire to retain the top names, you’ll certainly need a solid hire.
Despite said speculation and how locked-down this search has been, there are a few things we do know. We’ll cover those in this article—along with some speculation of my own that, while not confirmed by any explicit reports, I believe strongly to be true. So let’s jump right in and discuss what we know so far about this coaching search.
