Previewing and Predicting Texas A&M Football’s Game vs LSU

Texas A&M football squares off against the Tigers this Saturday in a game that, while less relevant to the College Football Playoff picture than it was last year, is still big for both squads. LSU still has a shot at the 10-win season they envisioned before the year began if they defeat the Aggies, but the Maroon and White are trying to close out strong and reach the 9-win mark for the first time since 2020 with a win here and in their bowl.

The Tigers doubtless have special motivation here to try and beat the Aggies as well. LSU lost to UGA anyway in the SEC Championship last year, but their fate was sealed with regard to the CFP one week prior when the Aggies smoked them down in Kyle Field, 38-23 (and it wasn’t even that close). The Bayou Bengals will be revenge-minded; in addition, they have as a member of their secondary a former Aggie in Denver Harris—though, to be honest, that may be as much motivation for the Aggies as it is for him. In any case, though, Harris may not even be active for this game, and this could all be a moot point.

As far as the matchups on the field, this will be a matchup of strength on strength on one side of the ball and then weakness on weakness on the other side. LSU has one of the top offenses in the nation; Texas A&M football boasts a stellar defense. LSU has one of the worst defenses in the nation; Texas A&M football has struggled at times on the offensive side—though, if they come out looking crisp, watch out.

So how might this game go? What should we be on the lookout for? Let’s dive in.
