F Tier Hires for Texas A&M Football

This tier is dedicated to one special man, who from all indications would sell his soul for this job, but has been reported to not be on the short list for a call.

That man is Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin has done a good job at Ole Miss. This isn’t necessarily all about his coaching acumen—though I do not think his offensive system scales to this level of program or championship contention generally. This is just about who he is as a person. He is not the guy who can lead a huge program; we saw that at USC. His foibles and idiosyncrasies get the best of him far too often for him to be a respectable leader. He’s obviously currently embroiled in a controversy that, no matter your opinion on the dynamics at play, will play awfully on the recruiting trail.

Lane Kiffin as the head coach of Texas A&M football is an awful fit. Given what he has said to and about our players and program so far, I think if he was named the guy you would see about half the team transfer, which also has to be a consideration here. He pouts in press conferences and blames his players for not being good enough. He is not the guy to lead Texas A&M football to the promised land, as much as he covets the head job at a place with as many resources as this.
