Texas A&M Football Player Posts Plea for Elijah Robinson to be HC
Texas A&M Football Player Makes Case for Elijah Robinson
Amidst heavy rumors and multiple reports that Mark Stoops will be named the next head coach of Texas A&M football, there have been no shortage of reactions from those near the program as well as fans. During this time, safety Jacoby Mathews had this to say regarding the coaching search.
"I don’ t know who’s supposed to hear it or see it, but [do us] as the players a favor.. Keep Coach E! I’ve never seen him cry, but he [bawled] his eyes out this evening after that loss. He is a man of his word and has been many and many times again for all of us. This is a coach that we would all run through a brick wall for at any given moment, because we know he’d sacrifice everything with us. Just within these past two weeks he has brought so much more joy and excitement to the program, making it feel like a better atmosphere. When we say keep Coach Elijah, we’re not just asking that you keep him on the staff.. but to keep him as the Head Coach to lead this program to where it’s supposed to go, in the fashion that it which it should be done in [sic]. To whom it may concern, yes we all feel this way. All of the locker room conversations have been around this topic because of the fact how quick he started changing the culture of the program in a positive manner! Brotherhood is what he preach, not only that but it is what we stand on! I love aggieland and Kyle Field #KeepCoachE!"
Some pretty strong words from the young safety. If this is truly how the majority of this Texas A&M football team feels, then I’d think twice about this move if I am Ross Bjork—or I’d at least address the team myself before this hire goes through. As of right now, there’s still nothing official about Stoops being named the head coach, so that’s something to keep in mind. Another thing to keep in mind is that it has been reported that, if Stoops were to get the job, he would keep Robinson on his staff (though obviously Mathews made it clear the team wanted Robinson to stay in the head position). This will be interesting to see develop as this situation goes on.
