Texas A&M Football: Ainias Smith Injured, Won’t Play in Bowl
Longtime Receiver for Texas A&M Football Broke Finger against LSU; Won’t Be Available for Aggies’ Bowl Game
The offense for Texas A&M football just took a hit for their as of yet undetermined final game of the year, as word has gotten out that Ainias Smith will be unavailable for the game due to an injury suffered in the game against LSU.
This is a huge bummer, not only for Texas A&M football fans, who have likely seen the last of Ainais Smith in an Aggie uniform, but for the man himself. As Billy says above, Ainias would have been at the top of the list to play, despite his status as a more than likely draft-bound super senior. He’s always been the type of player who has left it all on the field for the Aggies, and I’m sure it tears him up that he is unable to do that this one last time.
This also seems to confirm, as I’ve been referencing in this article, that Ainias is headed to the NFL draft. There hasn’t been an official declaration yet—I’m sure Smith is waiting until after the season officially concludes—but all signs are pointing this way at the moment.
Ainias is probably a day two or three prospect due to his size—the same thing that kept him from being a higher-rated guy in high school. Even so, he was one of the top contributors immediately for the Aggies, beating out higher-rated guys to see the field due to his explosiveness. I’m sure that, no matter where he gets drafted, he will make a quick impact on that franchise and quickly become beloved among the fan base, as he is here. Get well soon, Ainias!
