Could Shemar Turner Come Back for a Fifth Year for Texas A&M Football?

When Shemar Turner signed as a five-star defensive lineman in 2021, he was the crown jewel of a class that was, while still highly-rated, not quite as top-heavy as some of the other classes the Aggies brought in under Jimbo Fisher. He was another immediate contributor to the team, making his mark early on with a huge late-down stop against Colorado in the second game of the year.

Turner has been a dominant force on the interior of a star-studded defensive line for his entire tenure with Texas A&M football. It wasn’t until early this year, though, that he really began jumping off the screen. He showed up as one of the best pass rushers for an Aggie team that was racking up sacks left and right. Down the stretch of the season, though, he’s been a little quieter; he had one notably ignominious moment against Ole Miss, however.

Is Turner looking to parlay his time with the Aggies into a jump to the NFL, however? This is one that I’m leaning towards the Aggies keeping, in my opinion. He’s a local guy and was recruited by Elko to this scheme, which allows defensive linemen to be a little more ferocious and dominant than they were in what Durkin runs. It seems very realistic to me that Turner gives it another shot in College Station under Elko’s tutelage in hopes of getting a little more on tape before he heads to the pros.
