Texas A&M Football Transfer Portal Targets: WR Juice Wells, South Carolina

Antwane “Juice” Wells is a grad transfer from the University of South Carolina. Originally from Virginia, he began his career at James Madison before heading to Columbia, where he was a huge contributor in 2022. He was one of the most key parts of the Gamecocks’ victory over Tennessee, and made some huge plays against Clemson as well.

This year, however, went much differently. On a screen pass in the third game of the year against Georgia, Wells broke his foot while running into the end zone, and stayed out with injury for the rest of the year. Rumors ran rampant among the Gamecocks fanbase in the latter half of the year that Wells had healed but was refusing to play, with his eye set on the portal. It’s hard to say how true those rumors were, but Wells didn’t play another snap and is now in the portal.

Wells is a talented wideout, coming in at 6’1″ and 208 LBs. He recorded 928 yards on 68 catches last year, accompanied by 6 touchdowns. He would be a boon to any receiver room. Unfortunately, if you believe the rumor mill, this is one that the folks down in Austin have been working some time to land—perhaps contributing to Wells’s decision to sit out for the last part of the year. Unless something changes, I see this one going the Longhorns’ way.
