Texas A&M Football Transfer Portal Targets: EDGE Trey Moore, UTSA

EDGE. . player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. UTSA. Trey Moore. 2408

This is a big one. The reigning AAC defensive player of the year, when the word came down this morning that Moore was entering the portal, the ears of Aggies everywhere perked up. This is a guy that is a San Antonio native and therefore well familiar with the Aggies. He has been highly, highly productive in his time at UTSA, and one of the premier players on their defense.

Moore comes in at 6’3″ and 235 LBs, a little bit more of an outside linebacker type than a true defensive lineman. Still, though, his pass-rushing bona fides can’t be called into question: the man racked up 14 sacks on his own this past year to go along with an interception and forced fumble.

Something tells me here that the Aggies have a great shot at landing this talented pass rusher. Texas A&M football doesn’t exactly have a giant number of pure, twitchy EDGE types; their defensive line group as currently constituted leans more towards sheer size and power. Moore fits a need for Texas A&M football, and he would be playing under one of the best defensive minds in the game. Think about what Elko was able to accomplish with Tyree Johnson: that’s the slot that Moore would fit in with the Aggies. They’ll have a fight on their hands, but hopefully they come out the victors.
