Texas A&M Football Player Tweets Out Intent to Enter the Portal; Moments Later Uploads Instagram Story Claiming Account was Hacked

At different points in my short history covering Texas A&M football, I have indeed thought to myself, “well, now I’ve seen everything.”

Now, I think I really have seen it all.

Bryce Anderson, one of the key players on this Texas A&M football team, is a defensive back who is looking to have a huge year next year. Personally recruited by Mike Elko, he was largely seen as an Antonio Johnson replacement when he stepped on campus, so Elko’s return boded well for Anderson’s retention.

That’s why so many Texas A&M football fans were so shocked to see that he tweeted out that he would be entering the transfer portal earlier this afternoon.

The Aggies have been having a rough day as regards portal entries, with several key players announcing their intentions to transfer. For the most part, these have been expected, but Anderson’s announcement was really out of the blue. It was a bit strange that it was from his personal account, as it has been On3’s Hayes Fawcett that has posted most of the portal announcements thus far. Nevertheless, doom and gloom soon reigned.

For about ten minutes, I mean. Because then, Bryce Anderson put this up on his Instagram story.

This is insane. I mean, not really that insane—it’s one of the things that might first occur to someone to say “hey, I hacked this athlete’s Twitter! What should I say that would be hilarious?”

But the whole situation is off the rails, though.

For now, though, things are okay. Anderson is viewed as a leader on this defense headed into his junior year, and keeping him around is huge for that unit—as well as the whole team—going forward.
