Five reasons for rampant optimism headed into 2025 season for Texas A&M football
Last night's loss was a gut punch for Texas A&M football fans everywhere, full stop. It was emblematic of a lot of problems this team had, and could be another data point leading to some drastic moves, judging by what Elko said postgame. Blowing a big lead like that is always soul-crushing, even when it's in a bowl game where only 60% of either roster, at most, is playing.
But for that very reason, it's not extremely predictive— especially when looking ahead a full season. Now that the offseason is officially here for Texas A&M football, it's time to take stock of what we have heading into the upcoming year and see what this Aggie team will look like.
Doing so is revealing— in a very positive way. Let's take a look at five reasons that Texas A&M football fans should have an extremely sunny outlook going into next season.
Marcel Reed is the guy
Whatever your thoughts were on last night, I really seriously doubt that you came away from that game thinking that Marcel just doesn't have it. We were one botched drive by the defense away from being chock-full of narratives about Reed's clutch gene and huge performance.
Yes, he had two interceptions, but neither were objectionable in a predictive sense. The first was maybe a tad late but it took an amazing play by the DB to pull it in, and the other was due to a deflection.
He did a much better job in this one of putting the ball on his receivers (with only one or two misses) and using his running ability when he needed to. He continues to progress apace, and I think we see him take a huge step by next year. This offense will be hard to stop in 2025.
