Five players to watch for Texas A&M football in Aggies' showdown against USC Trojans
Texas A&M football's bowl game is fast approaching. They are set to take on Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans in the Las Vegas Bowl late— and I mean late— on Friday night in one of the more anticipated matchups of bowl season.
The Aggies will be facing off against an opponent that is missing several key players, though the Ags themselves have had some opt-outs as well. However, that can provide opportunity to see some young talent shine. Here are five Aggies to watch in the bowl game.
Texas A&M football players to watch in the Las Vegas Bowl: Rueben Owens
Owens should hopefully be back at full strength following his recovery from an injury he suffered in fall camp this previous year. We saw a couple of snaps from him against Texas, but he clearly was not at 100% in that game.
Almost a month later, he should hopefully be a lot further along in his recovery. With the limited running back depth available in this one, after Le'Veon Moss's injury, Rueben's contribution will be key.
He brings a pass-catching element that the other backs don't have in this offense. EJ Smith came in with a reputation of having that aspect to his game, but we haven't seen too much contribution from him on that front, as he doesn't have the down-to-down ability that some of the other guys do.
Hopefully, Owens' contribution will help propel the Aggies to a win. The Trojans already didn't have a great rush defense coming into this game, and with the other losses they've sustained, they should be even more susceptible.
