5-star LB gives head-turning Texas A&M quote with Mike Elko pushing hard over Miami

These are the type of quotes Mike Elko has to love hearing come out of five-star recruits' mouths.

It is not everything, but it most certainly is something... With five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson looking hard at where he wants to play his college football at, the Texas A&M Aggies stand a real shot at prying him away from Miami out-of-state. The Tampa Jesuit standout is also expressing serious interest in playing at major college football powers such as at LSU, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, too.

However, what he just divulged to Joseph Hastings III of Aggie Yell should speak volumes about A&M.

“I know there’s going to be stability over there.”

Stability is everything, and it may be the very thing that keeps him from committing to Miami in-state.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Henderson is the No. 3 player from Florida, the No. 1 linebacker in the country, and the No. 24 overall recruit in the 2027 cycle. He has 47 official offers, but has only taken one official visit so far. That was to LSU on April 23. Henderson has upcoming visits with Miami (May 29), Texas A&M (June 5), Ohio State (June 12), and Notre Dame (June 19) here soon.

With how much positive momentum Texas A&M has under Elko in recruitment, anything is possible!

Texas A&M might be able to beat Miami where it hurts in recruitment

There is a lot to unpack here, as well as a lot to infer... When it comes to programs like Miami and Texas A&M, they have usually been at the forefront of the NIL game across the Power Four. Their willingness to spend on seemingly anyone they can get into their facilities has played a huge part in them both being playoff-caliber teams for the foreseeable future. However, there are levels to this...

When it comes to Texas A&M, the financial backing the Aggies have is not going away... They have always had it; it just went to different things back in the day... As for Miami, the Hurricanes have a ton of expensive players already on their roster. Think of it like an NFL team being very much up against it with the salary cap. Miami is more cash poor right now than the Hurricanes will even want to lead on.

So what does this mean for a player like Henderson? It opens up the possibility that he may not be all about The U after all... While the Tampa native could be drawn to Florida, Florida State, or even UCF across the Power Four, Miami is the preeminent program in the state today. Although he is not technically in Mario Cristobal's backyard, Henderson leaving Florida would be so bad for the narrative.

Ultimately, what Elko is building at Texas A&M looks to be far more sustainable than the rockier foundation upon which the Miami football program is currently being built. It most certainly helps that Marcel Reed is a homegrown product for the Aggies, whereas Miami continues to find its starting quarterback solutions in the transfer portal. That is an expensive way to build up your football team...

At this time, Texas A&M wisely reinvesting its dividends have created such a sustainable war chest.
