Whether in the midst of a slump or this Aggie baseball hot streak, the personality shining through for this team is always a bright spot.

One of the things that made this Texas A&M baseball team so fun to follow on their trip to the College World Series final last year was the collection of personalities on the squad. Jace LaViolette, Gavin Grahovac, Caden Sorrell, and the rest all bring a lot of joy to the fans with both their on-field play and off-field hijinks.

No one drives this aspect of the team to a greater degree, though, than Columbia transfer Hayden Schott. Though he's been injured for a good part of this year and has mostly contributed at desiganted hitter, Schott's impact on the team goes far beyond the box score.

You can tell that he's a leader on this team thanks to the way the other players have taken to him since the moment he arrived on campus. His shenanigans have gotten fans laughing more than once, and he's the driver of a new bit that this team has rolled out ahead of their biggest three-game stretch of the year.

Texas A&M baseball players clearly keeping loose ahead of emotional showdown with Texas Longhorns

The Aggies are headed down to Austin this weekend for what will no doubt be an emotional showdown against their former coach, Jim Schlossnagle. In case you somehow haven't heard, Schloss vehemently denied that he would be leaving A&M the night after the Aggies lost in the College World Series championship game, and then turned right around and accepted a job with their chief rival.

This makes this upcoming series not only a huge rivalry game— the first these two programs have had since Texas joined the SEC— but one with many layers. The Aggies, though, look like they're staying loose.

There's apparently a big rivalry on the Aggies' players minds, but it's not the one they'll be playing in. No, it's the storied Columbia-Penn showdown that will apparently also be taking place this weekend.

Given that Schott is a Columbia alum, it seems obvious that he is driving this; however, to add to the joke, the Aggies also have a Penn alum in Wyatt Henseler on the team, as well as a graduate from last year's squad in Jackson Appel.

During this hot streak, the Aggies have just looked a lot less as though they were pressing during games; they've looked free and easy. The camaraderie that so many fans loved seeing last year looks like it's back. This is another artifact of that— and it's one that is sure to make fans chuckle as well.
