After disappointing series so far, A&M baseball can reclaim momentum with game 3 win

Texas A&M baseball has stumbled a bit in these last two games despite fighting hard. A win tomorrow would go a long way.

Texas A&M baseball came into this series against Texas with a huge chip on their shoulder. This is a team that, by and large, still feels a lot of the sting of what went down in late June last year when Jim Schlossnagle defected to their rival directly following a College World Series run.

You can tell that this team is battling in the series against the now-top-ranked Longhorns, but the old issue of offensive execution has reared its ugly head so far. The pitching has been stupendous on both sides, but the Aggie bats haven't been able to show up in key moments up until this point in the series.

That has led to two one-run losses so far for the Ags in Austin— an admirable showing against the no. 1 team in the land, but that is not something that's on the mind of many Aggie fans when it's your top rival in these circumstances. Winning the series is now out the window, but not all is lost.

Texas A&M baseball can seize back momentum with win against Texas tomorrow

The Aggies need a win tomorrow in game three in order to steal back some of the momentum that they've lost. They were riding high coming into this game, having only dropped one game going back to the absolute bomb that they unloaded on Tennessee in Knoxville.

They've certainly played well enough to earn a win. Barring something completely unexpected, a Texas win to lead to a sweep tomorrow would not at all be reflective of how competitive this series has been thus far, but that's the consequences the Aggies now face.

A&M fans hoped that the Ags could play spoiler in this series to the great season that Schloss has put together down in Austin. That hasn't come to pass, of course— but the postseason looms. A win tomorrow would be great for this team's confidence; heaven knows they need it.
