Texas A&M just picked up a massive commitment from a huge tight end prospect, as Evan Jacobson has gone public with his pledge to Mike Elko's staff. This was a long and hard-fought battle, but the Aggies have finally come out on top, vanquishing both the in-state Iowa State Cyclones and the national runners-up in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

If you're going to win a battle for a tight end prospect, those are two programs that you'll do well to beat out. Both ISU and Notre Dame have had some great play at TE over the last few years, with the Irish's tradition at the position going back even further than that.

Jacobson is not only a great player on the gridiron, but he'll be a massive addition on the basketball court as well. Standing at a looming 6'7", Bucky McMillan is no doubt also jumping for joy with this big time add.

Evan Jacobson commitment to Texas A&M means Aggies have another top position group for 2026 cycle

Jacobson joins Caleb Tafua from Washington and Kaeden Johnson from Houston as TE pledges for the Ags, rounding out what is maybe the best haul in the nation at the position group— only Georgia may be challenging them there.

Jacobson and Tafua are known quantities, but I'd watch Johnson closely as a guy that could rocket up in the rankings. The Aggies were the first school to recruit him as a TE, so the services are just catching up to his potential at that position.

Texas A&M notching pledges from KJ Edwards and Jonathan Hatton means they have by far the best running back tandem committed in the nation, and now, they may boast the same status at tight end. Those are two staples of Collin Klein's offense, of course, so this is pretty massive for the Aggies.

The Aggies remain in the hunt for a couple of top receivers to round out an extremely threatening group of weapons on offense, as well. This class is all but fully taking shape— with eyes on Jase Mathews and Tank Jones in the upcoming days, they could be about to rocket up into the stratosphere.
