2026 5-stars Texas A&M football fans should know: ATH Derrek Cooper

Cooper is another jack of all trades, like Groce. Unlike Groce, however, he's a guy that could end up on the other side of the ball after all is said and done.

He's listed on some sites as a running back, but it's possible if not probable that he ends up playing at defensive back wherever he lands. He would make quite the hard-hitting safety with his ability to hit hard and get downhill in a hurry.

If I had to guess, that's where A&M would be recruiting him. As the number 23 player in the 247 Composite rankings, Cooper would be a huge pickup if the Aggies were able to bring him in.

As things stand, they're on the outside looking in if I had to make a prediction. Cooper is a Florida native, so distance is a factor. He visited for the Texas game, but if he gets back to College Station this spring, then I'd begin to watch this one a lot closer.
