It looked for a moment like the head man for Aggie baseball had made quite the misstep, but it looks like A&M will get off scot-free.

Texas A&M fans can breathe a sigh of relief after news from SEC about Michael Earley's ejection against Lamar

After a disappointing series this past weekend against Jim Schlossnagle and the Longhorns, the Aggie baseball team needed the offensive explosion that they just put on display against Lamar. Despite their status as a low-to-mid-major team, the Cardinals are no joke this year, so it was comforting to see the Ags roll past them in the manner that they did.

Caden Sorrell in particular really showed out in this one, knocking in two homers. Ben Royo matched him with two homers of his own, continuing his hot streak for this Aggie team at the plate.

It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, however. In the midst of the game, though the Aggies were well in control, A&M head coach Michael Earley got tossed for arguing a call with an umpire. Now, the video supports Earley's gripe with the umpire without a doubt, and it certainly seems like the umpire in question had way too quick of a trigger to eject the head coach for the Aggies, but this was still dismaying for A&M fans.

This is chiefly because, per SEC rules, Earley would be forced to miss the first game of an extremely pivotal series this weekend against the LSU Tigers. This home series against the Bayou Bengals is A&M's chance to make a further case for inclusion in the postseason after last weekend's disappointment against Texas.

That in mind, A&M needs to be at full strength when they welcome the Tigers into town. Without Earley, they would have been hamstrung for that first game— but luckily, it looks like that's not something they'll have to worry about.

Maybe because he was right on the call he was arguing, or maybe because the decision-makers agreed that the ump was too quick to toss Earley, the Aggie head man will be allowed to coach in Friday's opener against the Tigers.

That's great news, obviously— A&M needs all the help they can get this weekend. Hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come for the Aggies.
