Texas A&M has just earned their best win of the recruiting cycle to date with today's commitment of five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington over Oregon, Alabama, and USC. Arrington is a top-10 player in the nation, as a guy who has the prototypical traits for a lockdown corner with his length and speed.
This is a massive victory for the Aggies on the recruiting trail, especially considering the way things had gone in previous days. Many over the past few months had thought that Arrington was higher on USC or Alabama, but when he narrowed his list down to Oregon and A&M, it seemed clear that the Aggies would be the choice.

This will be a recruitment that won't be over until the papers are signed and faxed in, but make no mistake: this win is absolutely gargantuan for the Aggies. Arrington becomes the highest-rated recruit in the class by a wide margin— at least until Lamar Brown makes his decision, which could also go the Aggies' way.
Texas A&M beats USC, Oregon, Alabama for five-star shutdown corner Brandon Arrington
Arrington's commitment isn't only huge for the football program, either, but for the track program. He's a legitimate star as a sprinter, and Pat Henry's squad, fresh off of a national championship, will only reload with his addition to the team.
This also speaks to the blazing speed he possesses. Especially given his lanky frame, Arrington's ability to tear it up on the track displays just how profoundly top-shelf he is as a cornerback prospect.
The combination of Arrington and Vic Singleton, also a top-100 player at corner, will be a formidable one for years to come in the SEC. Both guys can challenge for a starting spot from day one, in my mind, and will help the Aggies get the shutdown defensive backfield needed to compete against modern passing attacks.
This is one of the most major pieces of this class now locked in. No rest for Mike Elko and company, though: all through early July, some massive dominos are set to fall. This is the first, but it's certainly not the last.
