Texas A&M football is hoping for a much bigger year on the offensive end this upcoming fall than they had in the totality of the 2024 season. The Aggies having a strong running game and a much-improved receiving corps will help a lot in that sense, but the biggest key is the improvement of Marcel Reed.

The new QB1 for this season showed Aggie fans a lot down the stretch of last year, but many are hoping that he can take an even greater step forward from last season to next. Again, the improved quality of the weapons around him will go a long way there, but Reed himself scaling up his game when it comes to accuracy and downfield passing will be crucial.

He's apparently made a believer of one of the best Aggie players of all time, as Johnny Manziel made clear on a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show. Johnny Football was visiting with the Pat McAfee crew when he referenced a conversation he had had with Marcel recently that gave him confidence in the Aggie QB.

Johnny Football tells Pat McAfee he's bullish on Marcel Reed for the upcoming year

The Aggie legend and first freshman ever to win the Heisman may not have had a long NFL career, but he still has a lot of cache in the sports world— and he's leveraging that to give Reed some well-deserved respect:

Manziel and Reed are very different players, of course, but both being very mobile and smaller guys at the position, you can see where Johnny can give him a few pointers. That's something that should fire up Aggie fans without a doubt.

If Texas A&M is going to have a big season in 2025, Marcel has to provide solid and steady quarterback play— and if they're going to make it to the playoff, he's going to have to dazzle fans. He has the ability to be dynamic, as we saw several times last season, but it sounds like things are shaping up for him to add even more dimensions to his game in the upcoming year.
