Once a one-man wrecking crew that cleaned up the boards at Reed Arena in College Station, former Aggie forward Andersson Garcia got his first shot at the big leagues with a Utah Jazz 10-day contract, and he's done more than rise to the challenge so far in Salt Lake City.

First checking in on Wednesday, March 11, 'Dominican Rodman' showed off his nickname-sake against the Knicks as he grabbed a team-high nine rebounds — including five on the offensive end. Not only that, but he registered his first NBA points on a fastbreak layup.

Texas A&M fan favorite Andersson Garcia is living up to his nickname so far in the NBA

Jazz coach Will Hardy has already taken notice of Garcia's hard play.

"For Andersson’s first game, he really played hard,” Hardy said. "He guards, rebounds, and digs out loose balls. I was really proud of the way he played. The great part is that his strengths are very simple and repeatable."

Though he's brand new to the league, his play has remained the same dating back to his A&M days, where he averaged more rebounds than points — a feat that is a lost art in today's playing days.

Andersson's upside has always had to do with his hustle, which is something that cheering Aggie fans saw many times in Reed Arena. That's something that no one can take from him, and something that he will continue to put on display for the Jazz during this ten-day contract, as well as whatever other team takes a flier on him.

He's also gotten another game in in his 10-day as he logged another six points, two steals and three rebounds in 29 minutes of play against the Trail Blazers. As it remains seen if he gets another contract or shot, the chances are more than likely; whether it'd be with the Jazz or another team.
