Texas A&M football fans know well just how chaotic the transfer portal can be. Whether you are hoping to keep your own players out or snag contributors from different teams, things can move extremely quickly in the world of the portal.

So when things seem to come out of left field, it doesn't necessarily mean that they're untrue. You ahve to operate with a bit of a different frame of mind when you're following this portal stuff.

However, it looks like that mindset may have come back to bite Aggie fans today after a less-than-trustworthy announcement. A&M fans had a false start after thinking that they may have found a new contributor at wide receiver.

Anonymous X account announces towering receiver's commitment to A&M with no basis

Texas A&M football is certainly in the market for receivers in the upcoming portal window. With the departure of Micah Hudson after his initial commitment and the transfer of Noah Thomas, Aggie fans woudl love to see a little more depth at the position, even after the additions of KC Concepcion and Mario Craver.

One name that has been floating out there is that of Campbell WR Sincere Brown, a 6'5" pass-catcher who was a 1000-yard guy last year for the Camels. Today, an account going by the name of "College Transfer Portal" announced that Brown would be transferring to the Aggies.

However, there was something fishy about this news. Though Brown's name had been discussed, he has yet to visit campus— so fans immediately asked some trusted Aggie sources, who just as quickly decried the assertions.

However, just because this news was fake doesn't mean that Brown won't end up an Aggie. There is strong interest on A&M's part, and the reporting continues to be that this could be a match in the end.

Tread carefully out there, Aggie fans! You never know what you might find out there in the wild— sometimes, there are anonymous accounts just trying to pull the wool over people's eyes.
