Texas A&M has stayed put in the latest edition of the AP Poll that just released, remaining ranked at 19 despite quite the shakeup surrounding them.

Though the Aggies' position did not change, there was plenty around them that did. The Iowa State Hurricanes, after defeating Kansas State and South Dakota, leapfrogged the Aggies from 22nd last week all the way up to 16th.

That was not the only team that moved ahead of the Aggies from behind, either. Florida State, following a huge win over the Alabama Crimson Tide, leapt all the way from being unranked to the 14th spot in this week's poll. That's quite a jump for the Seminoles, who haven't made an appearance since the beginning of last season.

Texas A&M ranked 19th in Week 2 AP Poll, remaining steadfast amidst shakeup

I thought it was possible that the Aggies could move up a spot after what we saw last week across the sport, but with both FSU and ISU moving ahead of A&M, it wasn't meant to be.

However, even though two teams moved ahead of A&M, you also saw two teams previously ranked ahead of the Aggies that fell back. Alabama, who was embarrassed down in Tallahassee last Saturday, is all the way down to 20th— their lowest AP ranking in 17 years— and Kansas State has fallen out of the top 25 altogether.

That math adds up to the Aggies staying put at 19 after everything shook out. They'll likely remain there, outside of something crazy happening this weekend, until they play Notre Dame in week three.

Speaking of the Irish, a few other results of note: Texas wasted no time in squandering their first-ever preseason no. 1 designation by falling all the way to 7, Notre Dame stepped down two spots to 8, and Clemson is now down to 9.

LSU, by virtue of their win over Clemson, is now all the way up to 3rd overall, and are the highest-ranked SEC team. South Carolina is 10th, and Florida is 13th.

In other words, that's five of the current top 13 that the Aggies have on their slate later in the season. There's a lot more ground to be tread before any of these games are played, but this will be no easy sledding for the Aggies. It all starts against the Irish, however.
