There has been a long line of casualties among Texas A&M opponents who have chosen to discount or decry the intimidating atmosphere that is Kyle Field. It looks like the latest in that line is about to be Arizona State, thanks to some recent comments made by Sun Devils receiver Jalen Moss.

You have to give Moss credit for coming into this game with a confident attitude, of course. The senior transfer from Fresno State clearly doesn't want to let the Aggies beat him before the game even kicks off— but this is the kind of thing players are better off keeping to themselves.
In reality, there are reasons to think that this won't be Kyle Field at its most powerful— a noon game early in the season against a team that is not exactly a rival. But there's one comparison that the Aggies have here that should give ASU fans who share the opinions of Moss some pause.
Texas A&M fans will be out to prove Jalen Moss wrong after comments about Kyle Field
In the leadup to the 2016 season, which opened against UCLA in an afternoon game, then-Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen made a comment about Kyle Field which quickly backfired on him. Rosen commented that, since he had played in front of crowds of 50,000 before, he was prepared for the noise level at Kyle. And, of course, he was not.
It's not just Rosen that has made this mistake before, though there are similarities: both Rosen and Moss were/are players for teams out west who, though they are in major college football, don't quite understand the difference that you get in an environment like Kyle Field as opposed to some of the other stadiums they've played in.
There's a reason that Kyle, Death Valley, Williams Brice, Jordan-Hare, Neyland, and others have the reuptation they do versus a place like the Big House. While Michigan's stadium is large, the construction of it is such that the noise simply doesn't stay in very well— not to mention the difference between the ways each fanbase approaches the games.
Brady Cook found this out in 2024 when playing for Missouri; he sounded off about how prepared he was thanks to the crowd noise work in practice. The Tigers lost to Texas A&M 41-10 in a noon game, and they only scored that much because of a garbage time touchdown.
Garrett Nussmeier was another victim in that same season. He bragged about LSU's environment compared to the Aggies', only to lose 38-23 that season in front of a crowd that was so loud that it was visibly shaking the stadium on the broadcast. Not coincidentally, the following year the Aggies cleared out Death Valley in the second half en route to a 49-25 win.
Moss is about to learn what Kyle Field really is, in other words. It's not just about crowd size— it's about noise level, passion, and a gameday environment that is unmatched in the country.
