Texas A&M fans remember the rough stain back in 2023 when Jimbo Fisher was at the helm with Bobby Petrino leading the offense. That ended up being a failed project, and Fisher ended up with the biggest buyout in history, making more than $75 million just to not coach anymore.
Petrino is now the interim head coach for Arkansas after Billy Pittman was fired early this season. Petrino returns donning the red and white as the head man for the first time in over a decade. Arkansas fans believe the history of Petrino with Texas A&M can help lead them to an upset.
This looks like another trap game, but after watching what Notre Dame did to the Hogs earlier in the season, it also could be game where this could get away from the Hogs very quickly. Here are what some fans had to say leading up the Aggies-Razorbacks this Saturday.
Arkansas fans are hopeful at best for Bobby Petrino to make magic
As fans always are, they remain hopeful while some remain truthful. One fan on a Razorback fan forum gave a long enough explanation for why the Hogs could win a close one.
"I do not think A&M has enough offense to keep pace with Hog's scoring... All the offense needs to do is put together that one game without turnovers that end up stopping themselves. Marcel Reed has not been a willing runner to this point and is a streaky passer. Key on defense is slowing down the run game as the Aggie OL is pretty good as well. Hogs win a close one."
Another fan used the Petrino motivation against the Aggies to get it done.
"I know Bobby loves to beat A&M. Hopefully we'll steal one Saturday."
It's tough being a truthful fan, because the truth does indeed hurt. That's what one fan described when comparing the A&M game to the Notre Dame game.
"A&M has a great D and the offense will look great against the Hog D. May not be as bad as ND loss, but I think it will be ugly."
Another fan copied that same sentiment, with this fan going even further to the side of the Aggies.
"ATM is the best team we'll face all year. I don't see it going well."
It's another one of those games where Mike Elko won't allow the media to treat this as a cupcake. It's an SEC team on the road, and we all know how that can go.
