There is little that unites the Texas A&M Aggies fanbase more than an ardent love for their mascot and highest-ranking member of the Corps of Cadets, Reveille. Miss Rev is a fixture in Aggieland, and is well-liked and respected by all Ags— not to mention the many traditions surrounding her on campus.

A recent update from President Mark Welsh, then, gave some Aggie fans surprise and dismay, as Welsh posted on Facebook and elsewhere that Reveille had undergone surgery. Her handler from the Corps noticed that there had been "discomfort and cloudiness in her right eye." In the midst of the ensuing surgery, the doctors noticed "signs of abnormal tissue" and removed the eye.

The good news is that Miss Rev has come through the surgery with no complications and is doing well in her recovery, and should be back in full measure this fall. The bad news, obviously is that she is now without an eye— that led, though, to some pretty great memes.

Once the news came out that Miss Rev was fine, everyone in Aggieland breathed a sigh of relief. Then, they immediately went into creating memes:

There's no chance that this is an actual uniform that the Aggies use, but you have to admit, this is pretty creative.

You either love puns or you hate them, but this is a pretty good one.

Is this near the line? Maybe. But it's quality pun work nonetheless.

Apparently, this is just as it was foretold long ago by the fabled Shutdown Fullcast:

Eyepatch Reveille really started to gain some traction on Aggie Twitter after these posts...

Eyepatch jokes aside, it's definitely a good thing that Miss Rev is doing okay and hopefully will be back from her out of commission status by the time the season rolls around. I know I can't wait to see her sprinting out onto Kyle ahead of the team in just over a month, and I'm sure Aggie fans all over the country feel the same way.
