Bucky McMillan has been the million-dollar hire for Texas A&M basketball, as he officially picked up arguably the biggest recruit for Aggies basketball since Manny Obaseki back in 2021.

For McMillan to do this without coaching a game yet is pretty astonishing, and for Buzz Williams, he's probably punching air knowing that he had one of the best recruits in his own state that he couldn't reel in. Buzz wasn't really in the conversation much anyway, as four-star recruit Neiko Mundey committed to Texas A&M, becoming Bucky's first big recruit.

There were a pack of schools in the mix, like Texas A&M, USC and Texas. Now, Mundey has started the engine for the McMillan recruiting train for the next era.

The Aggies are in great shape on the hardwood, getting the No. 3 player in Maryland. To think that Williams wasn't even in the mix says a lot. McMillan and Williams are both in the same feat as first-time head coaches with Texas A&M and Maryland, respectively.

Mundey in AAU play has been fantastic. His confidence driving inside along with his spot-up perimeter shooting is what makes him standout. He's also not afraid to take contact going inside, and his AAU tape shows just that.

Mundey is also a top 45 prospect in the 2026 class. The Aggies not being able to get company like that in four years really shows how Williams' career with the Aggies was slowly winding down.

McMillan isn't just a guy to get recruits, he's trying to put fans back in the bleachers for Texas A&M basketball to become relevant again. Even though the Aggies suffered a bad loss against Michigan, it seems like more brighter days are ahead for Aggie basketball.
