Calling shots: Making predictions for Texas A&M targets' early July announcements

There are bunches of recruits set to announce in early July, and the Aggies are in the mix for many of them— so it's prediction time.

Predicting where flurry of early July commitments from A&M targets all end up

Texas A&M has a bevy of high-leverage targets making their decisions public at the beginning of July. For some, these are pretty straightforward predictions. For others, mystery still shrouds things.

But with July on the cusp of arrival, it's time to call some shots. Based on reading the tea leaves, here are my best guesses for the announcements for where each of these players will be headed.

LB DaQuives Beck (July 1) - Texas A&M

The Carthage LB and teammate of recent Aggie pledge KJ Edwards is one that I feel strongly will end up in College Station. The Aggies will have to outlast Oklahoma State here, but I feel good about them doing so. Beck could kick off quite the run in July with his announcement tomorrow.

WR Ethan "Boobie" Feaster (July 4) - Texas A&M

A former top-10 player in 2027, Feaster reclassified up and will no doubt soon make five-star status in this cycle as well. I think the DeSoto connection with Ar'Maj Reed-Adams and Deondrae "Tiger" Riden will help the Aggies in this one, adding an elite pass-catcher to A&M's already impressive class.

DL Bryce Perry-Wright (July 4) - Texas A&M

The Buford product is reportedly down to the Aggies and Clemson. This one is still shrouded in a bit of mystery, but I think the Aggies have a great shot of picking up BPW when he announces on July 4 to further solidify an elite defensive line class.

LB Tank King (July 4) - Texas A&M

I'm as confident in this pick as I am in any in this column. King has been high on the Aggies for quite some time, and they have been high on him for just as long. The Port Arthur product will make things official on July 4, and I see him picking the maroon and white.

OL John Turntine (July 4) - Texas A&M

We go from my most confident pick to my least confident. Texas insiders have reported that A&M is out of it, but they've been caught out more than one time historically and in this cycle in particular. A&M insiders, who have been remarkably perceptive in comparison— just take a look at the coverage of KJ Edwards' recruitment, for example— have the Aggies still squarely in the mix here. Nothing would surprise me here.

CB Dorian Barney (July 5) - Penn State

Barney and the Aggies seemed like a done deal for quite a while after he decommitted from Alabama, but I think it's the Nittany Lions that end up getting his pledge. James Franklin has come on strong in this one, and the Aggies have snagged some other DB targets that seem to make Barney's commitment less likely.

S Jireh Edwards (July 5) - Georgia

One of the two five-star safeties that the Aggies have been in on for a while, it seems increasingly likely that Edwards heads elsewhere. I'd put this one between the Dawgs and Alabama, with Kirby Smart winning out for yet another elite defensive back.

DL Lamar Brown (July 10) - Texas A&M

Can Mike Elko do the unthinkable and pull a five-star defensive lineman out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana? The longer this one drags on, the more likely it seems. Brown will be a battle until signing day no matter what, but there are a lot of signs that he's leaning towards the Aggies right now— not least of which was him almost canceling his LSU visit after coming to College Station.

DL Jamarion Carlton (July 10) - Texas

This one has been trending towards the burnt orange for a while. The Aggies reportedly canceled Carlton's visit after he took a trip to Austin that apparently went quite well. The Temple product will be a head-to-head win that the floundering Longhorns desperately need.
