Texas A&M football didn't quite have the year they had anticipated when it comes to rushing the passer in the previous year. Despite boasting some of the top talent in the nation along their defensive line— as shown by the three high-round draft picks they sent off to the NFL— they didn't rack up the numbers they would have liked.
Part of that has to do with Nic Scourton's injury down the stretch of the year, the nicks and nacks that hampered him as he faced off against dominant SEC offensive lines. But if there was one guy who finished strong on the Aggies' team, it was former Bowling Green edge rusher Cashius Howell.
Howell was an absolute force for the Aggies by the time the bowl game came around. He was the best player on the field by the time the game ended— well, either him or Marcel Reed.
PFF shows why Texas A&M's Cashius Howell will be a massive player for Aggies in 2026
Howell himself has put up some really impressive numbers when he's been able to be on the field, and with an increased role for the Aggies, those could be scaling to some even more impressive heights.

A double-digit sack year would be a massive success for Howell, especially with the way that the pass rush works for Elko's scheme. If he can reach that mark— which is definitely within reach for a guy of his talents— it will demarcate a successful year in this respect for the defense.
Playing opposite transfer DE TJ Searcy will be a boon as well. Hopefully, Howell can live up to this high praise and make a huge impact on next year's team.
