Cashius Howell is the perfect fit for the Bengals despite hesitations from fans

As a Bengals fan myself, the fanbase's hesitation on Cashius Howell is completely off.

The Cincinnati Bengals have drafted Texas A&M edge rusher Cashius Howell with the 41st pick on the NFL Draft tonight. Howell was the Bengals first pick of the draft as they did not have a 1st round pick due to the Dexter Lawrence trade.

I'll admit, i'm biased on this one. I'm a Cincinnati native, resident, and a Bengals fan. I absolutely love this pick for the Bengals. Yes, it is great that we get yet another Aggie in Cincinnati, but Howell will be an incredible fit in Cincinnati.

Bengals fans are pretty apprehensive about the team taking yet another Aggie as their first pick in the draft after the contract drama and subsequent poor season by fellow Aggie edge Shemar Stewart last season. Fair enough, but clearly, they haven't done their homework on Howell.

Cashius Howell is perfect fit for Cincinnati Bengals even in face of fans' hesitation

So why will Cashius Howell be a great fit in Cincinnati? He has proven production and immediately helps fill the hole that the departure of Trey Hendrickson has left. With his 11.5 sacks last season (2nd in the SEC), Howell is exactly what the Bengals need as a rotation piece on obvious passing downs. He's fast, an athletic freak, and can attack off the edge a multitude of ways.

Cashius Howell is what Shemar Stewart isn't. Shemar is very solid in the run game whereas Howell is a menace in the passing game. The combination of the young Aggies and the veterans of Boye Mafe and Myles Murphy can make this Bengals DE group very formidable next year. And don't get me started on how they've shored up the interior of their defensive line.

Time will only tell, but I think it's only a matter of time before Cashius Howell jerseys become a popular choice in the city of Cincinnati.
