Texas A&M baseball came into this season ranked as the number one team in the nation based on the strength of their formidable lineup. This is a team that boasts as many heavy-hitters as any squad in the country, and the A&M pitching staff has started out looking elite as well.
For that reason, even with all the tumult in College Station in the immediate aftermath of the College World Series, this A&M squad still had enough cache to come in atop every poll. This is the most exciting team we’ve had in any sport on campus in quite some time, so it was well-justified.
One of the brightest spots from last year’s squad, and a guy many expected to take a huge step in this upcoming season, was Gavin Grahovac. A massive contributor to last year’s team, Grahovac helped propel the Aggies to the College World Series with his power hitting and fielding ability.
Texas A&M baseball loses Gavin Grahovac to season-ending surgery
Things just didn't seem right with him to begin 2025, though, and there were murmurs of an injury that he was battling through. It now appears that injury was even worse than fans knew, as Grahovac has made the difficult decision to undergo season-ending surgery.
News: Texas A&M third baseman Gavin Grahovac will have surgery to repair his left shoulder and miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

Grahovac had been fighting through it the first 2 weeks, but it got to a point that was untenable.

Make no mistake: this is a massive blow to this Aggie lineup. Grahovac had the chance to be one of the best players in the SEC once again this season, so to go without him is going to be season-altering.
It's not as though the Aggies are completely left in the lurch, of course. This is one of the deepest teams in the nation, and A&M has plenty of talent they can use to fill the gap. But Grahovac was starting over all that talent for a reason; the Aggies will need to adjust in the wake of this eventuality.
Get well soon, Gavin! All the Aggie faithful can't wait to see you back out in Maroon and White on Olsen Field next year.
