While SEC Media Days wraps up, the Texas A&M Aggies basketball team and their fans are looking forward to what could be the most anticipated season in a long time. Buzz Williams helped establish a group of tough men in his six-year tenure. Now, there's a new sheriff in town.
Bucky McMillan, the former Samford head coach, is implementing his "Bucky Ball" system in College Station for a fast and fun way to play the game. Texas A&M basketball during the offseason has been at the forefront of the portal by gaining some of the more recognized names in college basketball. Now, college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein has thoughts on SEC basketball.
A record-breaking 14 SEC teams made the NCAA Tournament this year, breaking the record of 11 by the Big East in 2011. If Rothstein's A&M prediction comes true, it's time to say hello to the Aggies again next March.
Rothstein predicts Texas A&M basketball finishing 10th in SEC
In Rothstein's SEC breakdown for the 2025-26 season, he has the defending champion Florida Gators back in front. The others in front of A&M aren't too surprising. Rothstein predicts John Calipari's Razorbacks to end up second, Kentucky in third and Auburn at fourth. Then, it's pretty much up for grabs for fifth and 10th.
Texas A&M finishing 10th isn't too surprising considering McMillan has a brand new team. The transfers like Pop Issacs, Mackenzie Mgbako, Rylan Griffen, Marcus Hill and Ruben Dominguez are going to be some of the electrifying players this conference will see.
Texas A&M has the potential to win an SEC title, just like the other nine teams Rothstein ranked above them, but it's going to be another tough road. If the Aggies do stay true to Rothstein's prediction, they will almost indeed make the NCAA Tournament in 2026 in McMillan's first year as the head coach of Texas A&M.
