CFP Committee continues to rob Texas A&M blind in spite of all the metrics

This is absolutely ridiculous by a committee that continues to embarrass themselves.

Texas A&M has come in at the 7th overall spot in the latest CFP rankings, despite every single respected resume metric out there indicating the Aggies should be higher. If things held as they currently are today, Texas A&M would face off in College Station with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in their first playoff game.

This is a ridiculous placement for Texas A&M, as I outlined earlier today. The absolute lowest you can find the Aggies' resume among the metrics that track strength of record is fifth. Fifth! And the committe has chosen to drop them down to seventh.

Of course, this should be no surprise. Texas A&M was either one or two in most resume rankings every week leading up to this one, but the committee continued to place them at the third spot for no real reason at all. This is a committee apparently hell-bent on robbing the Aggies blind and giving them the hardest possible road in the playoff.

Texas A&M cheated by the committee once again as Texas A&M drops to 7

The committee's strongest argument here is that this mirrors the Aggies' drop in the AP Poll. But that is simply not enough when you actually compare the resumes of these top teams.

Again, given the way this first round plays out, the gap between the 6 and 7 seed is absolutely massive. That's the difference between playing someone like Alabama or Notre Dame and playing a team like North Texas or Virginia. It's a completely different class of team.

Texas A&M can definitely beat Notre Dame. They had a lot of bad beats in the game against the Irish up in South Bend, and still came out with a win. But the fact remains that the committee is simply making a conscious choice to not do right by the Aggies.

Of course, it's unlikely that the Aggies play the Irish. With Alabama up at 9th, they will jump the Aggies if they beat Georgia this Saturday, and if they lose to the Bulldogs, they will fall behind the Irish. That removes the possibility of A&M playing Notre Dame in either instance, meaning they most likely will play OU, Alabama, Miami, or possibly BYU.

Texas A&M will have to await their fate on Selection Sunday in only five days. The committee has shown that they will pull out all the stops to give the Aggies the short end of the stick, and so Texas A&M fans ought to expect nothing less on that day.
