2016 CFP National Championship: Alabama vs. Clemson
Despite the roller coaster that the 2015 game was, this game is the one that everyone remembers. The Tide were rolling into this game with a squad that looked largely different from the previous showdown. Instead of Jacob Coker at QB and Derrick Henry at RB, it was Jalen Hurts and Bo Scarborough in the Tide backfield.
Clemson came in once again with Deshaun Watson at QB, in his final year as the signal caller for the Tigers. His last moment on the field for Clemson was glorious, as he tossed a last-second touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow to put the Tigers up for good over the Tide.
With that win, Dabo Swinney secured his first title in the South Carolina upstate, handing Saban his first-ever loss in a national title game. This is one of the best-remembered games in recent playoff history for good reason, as it was one of the most tightly-contested.
Clemson triumphed 35-31 here in a true thriller.
