Texas A&M baseball, fresh off of a disappointing season, seems more and more likely to make a move at their head coaching position.

Texas A&M baseball seems all but poised to make a move at the head coaching position. After a tumultuous summer last year, one that saw the then-Aggie head coach leave— directly following a college world series final berth, no less— for the rival Longhorns, A&M turned to a man who showed a lot of promise and seemed guaranteed to bring back the talent that had gotten the Aggies to the final in the first place.

It seemed like a good move at the time. Keeping the roster together was paramount, and Earley put together an impressive staff— not to mention picking up recruit after recruit on the trail.

Now that the season is over, though, fans of the Maroon and White are all playing captain hindsight. The disappointing output and win total for the Aggies was certainly unforeseen, and there were several moments that were essentially unforgiveable, being swept by elsewise-winless Missouri chief among them. That in mind, the Aggies, apart from a shock in the selection process today, seem like they're ready to make a move at the top— and insiders are all but promising that such a move is coming.

College baseball insider Kendall Rogers would be "very surprised" if Aggies retain Michael Earley

Especially after the passionate defense that the heroic Jace LaViolette made of Earley after his valiant performance in a loss against LSU, there are a few fans that are lobbying for the Aggie head man to stay. It is his first year, after all, and they want to give him a chance to run it back.

However, others say that there is very little promise that has been shown here in the first year. The wins over top-ranked teams are a result of what they purport is the most talented roster Earley will ever have, and the effect of his coaching is more so shown in this team's inconsistency.

College baseball insider Kendall Rogers seems to be of an opinion that would satiate this latter camp:

This seems tantamount to a promise that the Aggies are in the late stages of a coaching search. There's always the possibility that A&M and whoever they are targeting have a deal that falls apart, but it seems like the ship is almost in the harbor.

There are a few names that could energize this Aggie fanbase, and I wouldn't be surprised if A&M is swinging for the fences. Things could move quickly here soon.
