Texas A&M football recruiting in 2026 cycle occupying rare air; Why exciting trend could continue

Texas A&M football is off to a great start in recruiting the class of 2026. The Aggies sit at 8 commitments at the moment, and are among the top groups in the nation at this point in the cycle.

It's a formidable assemblage of players, as well. The Aggies have brought in talent from all over the nation, which has led to a bit of an awkward reality in that they don't currently have a commitment from an in-state player, but it's still a great group.

It's so good, in fact, that the Aggies are currently rocking a 100% blue-chip ratio: all 8 of their committed players are at least four-stars. That's the best percentage in the nation among teams with a significant number of commits, and one of the best raw numbers overall as well:

Now, history tells us that this is not a trend that can really continue. And as a matter of fact, it's only the case for the Aggies at the moment because of some decommitments earlier: both Ryan Gilbert and Markel Ford were three-stars that the Aggies had brought into the fold.

It would also mean that the Aggies didn't take any players that they considered to be diamonds in the rough; guys the services don't have ranked highly, but players that the Ags feel good about. Bringing in a couple of those kinds of players in a given cycle is a good strategy— likely healthier than adding none at all.

But for what it is, this is an impressive statistic, and one that shows the caliber of prospect that the Aggies currently have committed in the class. The most exciting thing is that most of their top-level targets have yet to name a destination, so they could add some even higher-quality players here in the upcoming months.
