Texas A&M football suffers loss with Noah Thomas transfer portal announcement, but Aggies could still reel top WR back in
This entire transfer portal cycle for Texas A&M football has been centered on the wide receiver position. The defensive line has been an area the Aggies have addressed as well, but receiver has been the number one point of emphasis since the day the portal ranks opened.
And with that in mind, you have to give the Aggies a lot of credit: they've gone above and beyond in addressing their needs at the position. The additions of Mario Craver, Micah Hudson, and KC Concepcion give A&M the perfect blend of high-end potential and proven production.
There was always some danger in this strategy, however. If you aim to address an issue at a specific position by bringing in portal contributors, the guys who had up until then been your top players at that position may take it badly.
In this, the final day of the portal being open for Texas A&M football players, it looks like that exact thing may have just happened. Texas A&M football's top receiver, Noah Thomas, announced today that he would be entering the portal.
Texas A&M standout wide receiver Noah Thomas has entered the transfer portal, @chris_hummer and I have learned for @cbssports/@247Sports.

Thomas, unlike many Aggie portal entrants so far, is a guy that the Aggies had big plans for next year. Even though he likely would no longer be the number one option for A&M, he still figures into what Klein and company want to do.
That said, I have a feeling that this one isn't quite over. I think there's a distinct chance that a guy the Aggies prize as highly as Thomas could end up withdrawing his name from the portal if all is said and done.
Think about it: this is the final day for Aggie players to enter the portal. If Thomas has been mulling it over, this could represent the idea that he is simply putting his name in because if he doesn't do it now, he may lose his opportunity: his foot may not be all the way out the door, in other words.
I feel confident in Mike Elko and Holmon Wiggins to get this situation figured out. If things become intractable, then so be it— as I've said, the Aggies have done a good job at the position in the portal. But I think if they all come to the negotiating table together, we may yet see the senior wideout in Maroon and White once more.
