Texas A&M fans have not exactly been pleased with Marcel Reed over the last few weeks, but with the way he is currently playing at halftime of the Missouri game, the calls for him to be benched are now louder than ever. The Aggies' starting quarterback currently holds an unenviable stat line, to say the least: he's 5/13 for a paltry 47 yards and has two interceptions to his name.

Now, the interceptions were not entirely his fault: both came off of deflections, and one of those was deflected by his own player right into the hands of a Missouri defender. It should also be said that the receivers in general have not done him any favors: there have been three times, at least, where receivers have failed to make catches that they should have when Marcel was relatively accurate.

That said, there's a clear problem at quarterback right now in College Station, and fans are demanding a change out of Mike Elko. He's not one to kowtow to the sentiments of the masses at all, but with the way things have been going, you have to wonder what he's seeing— and what he may be considering— at the quarterback spot right now.

Aggie fans reaching a boiling point with demands for Marcel Reed to be benched

Even normally measured fans like Robert Behrens have been calling for a change at signal caller:

The issue there is that we've seen Brady Hart (albeit in limited action) and what he's put out there on the field has not been close to better than Reed. If you're Elko, you run a huge risk of completely destroying any confidence Reed has at all— and thus any chance of a bounce back— for something that you know, in all likelihood, is going to be worse.

That doesn't stop the calls for the backup QB, of course. Even national outlets want to see him sit.

The jokes, as you'd expect, are flowing thick and fast in the wake of this performance, too:

It's getting tough out there for fans:

Something simply has to change for this Aggie offense. Most think a QB change will do something— but it's possible that would be playing right into Missouri's hands. Whatever the case, fans are getting more restless than ever in the wake of this kind of performance from the man who was supposed to have taken a huge step this year.
