EA Sports College Football has been with us for over a year now, after a ten-year absence with absolutely no college football video game to speak of. In its time in the zeitgeist, it has led to no shortage of entertainment and— most importantly— arguing over player and team ratings, which is always the most fun part of sports video games.

With the continued success of the franchise, there had been inklings that EA had been looking to expand into further endeavors in the same space. What exactly that looked like was not a certain thing— but now we have a pretty good picture.

The official EA Sports account dropped an indirect, but not so cryptic, tweet this morning that indicated the direction that they will be going with their next addition to the franchise. It looks like the madness will be back soon, as EA heads to the hardwood for a college basketball video game.

EA Sports drops bombshell tweet showcasing intention to create new college basketball game

EA tweeted out the following this morning, sending college sports fans into a tizzy:

For as exciting as college football is, it can sometimes overshadow the classic environments and milieus you can find in college basketball. With the NBA 2K franchise spinning its wheels somewhat, adding an alternative— one in which you can play in some of the most legendary basketball venues in the world, not to mention March Madness— is a great move by EA.

Early indications are that this game won't be coming for some time, but I know Aggie basketball lifers will be anxious to play as soon as this game drops. Bucky McMillan's style will make A&M one of the most fun teams to use in the game, and if early recruiting returns show us anything, they could be one of the most talented teams in the country by that point.
