Texas A&M football is gearing up to host their first-ever playoff game at Kyle Field on December 20, when they will welcome in the Miami Hurricanes for a showdown in the first round of the College Football Playoff. This is hands-down the most highly-anticipated game of that initial slate, despite the fact that it was placed as an 11 AM local kickoff.
Apparently to avoid going head-to-head with the NFL, the powers that be with the CFP slotted Texas A&M against Miami early on in the day, when it will get the most eyeballs— the other two games on the day are Ole Miss vs. Tulane and Oregon vs. JMU, both of which project to be pretty uninteresting.
That in mind, most Aggie fans are anticipating quite a bit of fanfare for this game— and one ESPN host may have just given something away that would make this game even more of a huge event.
ESPN's Stanford Steve seemingly indicates Texas A&M is set to host College Gameday for showdown with Miami
Despite the historic run that the Aggies have been on this season, they have yet to host College Gameday in College Station this year. That could all change on December 20 if what Stanford Steve, a member of the College Gameday crew, said on Scott Van Pelt's podcast comes to pass.
ESPN’s College GameDay coming to College Station? It appears that way.

On the latest episode of the SVPPod, Stanford Steve may have let the networks’ plans be known:
“Yeah, I’m gonna guess we’re going to double dip again, also, for GameDay. Alabama-Oklahoma going to be the… pic.twitter.com/OXEJrOluKW
The "we" there refers to College Gameday, as Steve is part of the crew, as previously mentioned.
This would, on the one hand, be patently unsurprising, given the magnitude of this game relative to that of the other two on that day. On the other hand, it further adds hype to the Aggies' first-round game, so the Ags will have quite the level of pressure under which they'll have to perform.
This is most likely the most consequential game to be played in Kyle Field possibly ever, given that a win means you are three games away from a national championship. That's no small potatoes, obviously, so you can bet that Kyle Field will be rocking. Elko and the team had better be ready, as there will be no easy games from here on out.
