Texas A&M basketball has had a great resume to begin the season, and it has one notable ESPN insider supremely confident in the Aggies.

Texas A&M basketball reportedly a 'lock' for NCAA tournament ahead of season stretch run

All too often in the first few seasons of Buzz Williams with Texas A&M basketball, the year would follow the same script. A slow start would lead to the team beginning to come together, before another down stretch would strike with some questionable losses mounting. Then, the Ags would really put stuff together ahead of the stretch run.

This season has been pretty different. So far, the Aggies have yet to experience such a down stretch, and have been playing some pretty consistent basketball throughout the season.

At least, they have had no down stretches that span multiple games. A&M has gone through some dry spells in the midst of individual games that have ended up proving costly; I'm thinking in particular of the Oregon and Texas games.

Even with those considered, though, the Aggies have caught the eyes of the nation's best bracketologists. Joe Lunardi, a trendsetter in that space, considers the Aggies a March Madness 'lock,' according to a tweet from a few days ago.

Then, this week, after plenty of upsets over the weekend, Lunardi actually bumped the Aggies up to a 2-seed in the NCAA tournament.

This would be an amazing outcome for the Aggies. Texas A&M has never gotten as high as a 2-seed in previous tournaments, with their record high being a three-seed. This would certainly open up a much better path to the second weekend than A&M has had at any other time under Buzz Williams.

There's a lot of work left to do, however. The Aggies have several hugely consequential games down the stretch, including some against Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida. The bye week has come at a good time for the Ags— now, they need to rest up and get ready for this final run.
