Grading Texas A&M football's coaching hires - Collin Klein, OC/QBs

Klein has had an extremely rocky road so far as the offensive coordinator. Coming into the year with one guy as your quarterback only to lose him after game two is not anyone's idea of an easy row to hoe for a first season as OC.

But from a scheme standpoint, Klein has been near-impeccable. A coach can only do so much with some of the circumstances he's had to work through, and I've been extremely impressed with what he has pulled off in that regard.

He has done what fans always pled to see out of Jimbo Fisher's scheme: tailored the offense to his talent. When Marcel Reed came in as signal caller, the packages looked completely different than when Conner Weigman was the man. The modernized triple-option that Klein ran against Florida worked to perfection.

Of course, the limitations of Reed as a passer soon caught up to the Aggies. Teams began to dare Marcel to throw downfield, and when he wouldn't do it, the offense quickly fell apart—as any would. Klein spun straw into gold as well as he could, but the return of Conner Weigman could not have come at a better time.
