Grading Texas A&M football's coaching hires - Sean Spencer, DL

Maybe the most impressive thing about this hire is how quickly Elko had it ready. In an early signal that things were different from the seat-of-your-pants way the previous regime did things, almost as soon as Elijah Robinson announced his departure, A&M announced the hire of Sean Spencer.

Spencer, formerly of the New York Giants and Florida Gators, is another guy who came in with a stellar reputation as a recruiter. He's already flashed that potential in several instances—most notably, with Nic Scourton.

The Bryan High School product and former Purdue Boilermaker has been a huge piece for this A&M defense, and we have Spencer and TJE to thank for it. The man they call "Coach Chaos" has imparted that quality well to his position group, and Scourton is maybe the chief example thereof.

Opposing offenses have planned their schemes around neutralizing the Aggie DL so far this season; some with more success than others. One thing is for sure, though: there have been several moments in each game so far this year where this position group has made game-wrecking plays. This grade shows just how much of a positive they've been for this team overall.
