Baylor football fans can't stop talking about a matchup against Texas A&M football that isn't even happening
Whoever runs the Baylor football X account most likely didn't think their Sunday would go like this.
Let's back up a second. It's selection Sunday for the College Football Playoff. The committee revealed their picks a little after noon eastern, and the next four hours were spent complaining about all the obviously wrong decisions that they made. It's a national tradition at this point.
Then, the bowls get to selectin'. You have rumored matchups beforehand, some discussion and excitement at potential games, but then things are actually set.
Well, whoever runs the Baylor X account, knowing that they would not be selected for the College Football Playoff, decided to ask fans a simple question: where will the Bears go bowling?
The fans who replied, however, were less concerned with where the Bears would be playing than with who they would be taking on. And they weren't afraid to answer very definitively.
Of course, the most likely place this matchup would have taken place is in the Texas Bowl in Houston, which matches up Big 12 and SEC schools. But there were precious few answers that simply said "Texas Bowl"—the large majority of the responses shouted out the Aggies by name.
I mean, the sheer volume of responses absolutely fiending for the Aggies is kind of astounding. Even the Baylor X admin got a little fed up with their own fans!
Texas A&M fans, for their part, were slightly surprised to see all this attention directed their way! They were also surprised about other things.
Of course, despite what is apparently the dearest wish of the entire population of Waco, Texas, the Bears will be playing LSU in Houston, while the Aggies will take on Southern Cal in Las Vegas. But after this response, I expect Baylor fans to be viewing this entire game as a referendum on whether or not they would beat A&M based on the Aggies' result against the Tigers earlier in the season.
