Final 2025 SEC power rankings: 6 - Vanderbilt
Talk about the great stories in the sport from this past year and you have to mention the Commodores. Diego Pavia’s public image took some hits down the stretch as people began to tire of his act, but you can’t deny how entertaining he was to watch on the football field.
Good on Clark Lea for taking this program to these heights, but the issue now will be sustaining it without Stowers, Pavia, and company. It was already somewhat disquieting that the ‘Dores did not exactly perform well against the most talented teams they faced in Alabama and Texas, but we’ll see if Lea will be able to parlay this season into a greater infusion of talent going forward.
It would be tough to find a more efficient offense in the country than what the Vandy coaching staff got going in Nashville, which is not something you find yourself saying very often. That’s a huge credit to them and their personnel.
This season lacked a statement win like the one they got over the Tide last year, but it was still a major success, all things considered. I don’t think you can consider them in the top shelf of the conference, but they were a really solid team this season.
