Final 2025 SEC power rankings: 3 - Georgia
In the SEC Championship, the Bulldogs looked like they may have been a national title favorite as they shellacked the Crimson Tide behind the strength of a renewed defense. Their second dance with Trinidad Chambliss and Ole Miss, though, showed that those hopes were unfounded.
Gunner Stockton played valiantly, but the Dawgs really didn’t have any kind of answer for the Rebels’ offensive attack. The fourth quarter in Athens in their matchup earlier in the season made it seem as though Kirby Smart’s unit had found the recipe to stop the Rebs, but no such luck was had in this past game.
Overall, however, this year was one that met expectations for the Dawgs. Not many had them slotted as a national title favorite coming into the year, and despite the fact that they didn’t get a chance to advance in the playoff, they won the conference and got a bye as a top-four seed.
The Bulldogs had some big wins this year, though, and proved themselves well against a difficult schedule. Interestingly enough, they didn’t lose to any team that they didn’t also beat at a different point in the season. It’s hard to slot the Bulldogs lower than this, as a consequence.
