Final 2025 SEC power rankings: 8 - LSU

Lots of teams on this list ended up with “lost seasons,” but I don’t think any fanbase was more disgruntled by theirs than was that of the Tigers. LSU looked like a potential contender in week one, knocking off Clemson (who was highly-regarded at that point) on the road, but they crashed and burned not long afterwards.

The loss to Ole Miss was not great, but it was understandable— after all, though no one expected the Rebs to be quite as good as they were, Trinidad Chambliss’s high level of play was quite a sight to behold. The loss to Vanderbilt was where things got shaky, and the blowout against A&M was where the wheels fully came off the wagon.

The Tigers eked out a 7-5 finish as complete shells of their original selves— something in them broke during that loss to the Aggies. The entire organization was in disarray for some time afterwards until Lane Kiffin made the move that many had been expecting and joined as their coach.

For what many expected coming into the year, though, this has to be a huge disappointment. The new coach shine will be bright with Kiffin, but Tiger fans will be eager to forget 2025.
